2012 AUSTRALIAN SALOON CAR SERIES - Round Four Preview
But the British-born Victorian won’t be expecting an easy run with his Eurostar Diesels Holden Commodore as hot competition will come from recent race winner South Australian Josh Kean (Australian Crash Commodore), and a trio of Queensland based Fords driven by Coleby Cowhan, Lindsey Kearns and Matt Shanks.
In the meantime, work commitments have force Lovell to pull out of the Queensland round. “I am so sorry I won't be there at QR as I was looking forward to it, especially with more ‘sniff under the lid’ and that circuit would be a good for the Falcons as I reckon the Commodore is more suited to the point and squirt tracks,” he said
Victoria’s Matt Palmer (STR Truck Bodies Holden) and Luke Westall from New South Wales in the Transley Solutions Falcon were strong performers at the most recent round, held at Winton in Victoria, and will also be strong combatants in the Sunshine State.
There is a strong contingent of local teams while several of series’ runners won’t be making the journey north. That will Ian Chivas (Silkgate Falcon) and Harley Phelan (Kleenduct Commodore) handily placed to solidify positions in the top five.
The race weekend begins on Friday with two practice sessions at 10.00am and 12.40pm with two 20-minute qualifying sessions on Saturday at 10.00am and 12.30pm followed by the first of three ten-lap races at 2:45pm. On Sunday the remaining two races are scheduled for 10.10am and 2.30pm. Each race can be seen and heard live on www.itvlive.com.au, on August 19 on SBS’ Speedweek from 11.30am, and later on Speed at a time to be advised.
